Driveway entry gates with leaf and vine design

I have recently completed these leaf and vine entry gates from a clients design.  It was a pleasure working with them to create this set of gates.  Many times people only see entry gates as being tall and filled with bars and scrolls.  The clients here have a beautiful custom home and the gates complemented the setting very well.  One nice touch was that when the drive was concreted they took the leaf design from the gates and carved 3 large leaves in the cement a few yards in front of the gates

In this detail shot you can see that I forged steel with a vine texture for the small vines, I did this to complement the large forged steel sunflower leaves.  The gates are very substantial in weight being built from 2″x2″ 11 ga steel, 1″x2″ 11 ga steel for the frame, 3/4″ solid steel for the large vines, 1/2″ solid steel for the small vines and 1/8 inch plate steel forged for the leaves.  The gates hang on 8″ x 8″ x 1/4 inch thick steel post with ball bearing hinges.  The finish is “Spartan bronze” powdercoat.  All of this detail to give years of service.  Please if you have any need of my help in designing and creating your project please contact me through my blog or website www.brownviewforge.com
